The artist carves into the wall to the thickness of the paint, creating indentations where they then paint. The wall and the painting are flush with each other.
The paint is spread on a smooth surface, and the peeled-off material is handled like a sheet. This sheet can be split or folded, interacting like a piece of paper.
This sheet is then applied to the painting. The sheet on the painting behaves like wallpaper.
While the wall is carved for the sake of the painting, the painting is peeled off for the sake of the wall.
