The "Nirvana Song" series is inspired by the "law of the conservation of matter," which posits that matter does not completely disappear from the universe but continues to exist in another form. If there is a universe made of spirit or consciousness, I believe it would also operate under such laws. Thus, forgotten memories are not erased. Furthermore, I ponder if parts of forgotten memories from the brains of all spiritual and conscious beings are not completely erased but are accumulating in a vast space. This would result in a "mass of messages" that can no longer be extracted individually. In other words, the "forgotten" parts gather in another dimension, silently forming the shape of the human spiritual world.
The "♮ Series" derives its symbol from the natural sign (♮) in music, representing "natural" or inherent nature. The term "natural" comes from the Latin word "natura," meaning birth or innate quality. In Western music notation, the [♮] symbol, known as the natural sign, cancels a previous sharp or flat. The meaning of this symbol resonated with the content I wanted to express in the "Natural Series." Therefore, I decided to use this musical symbol as the theme for the series, connecting it with visual art.
This series of works is based on my memories of the mountains in Yunnan Province, China, where I was born. The mountains are the origin of my memories and the starting point for exploring the relationship between my inner self and the external world. In China, where I received my art education, there was a strong focus on traditional modeling techniques, and I was apprehensive about venturing into new methods of expression. However, through abstract landscape works, I discovered my unique visual language. Symbols like mountains and horizons appear in my works, reflecting my past, present emotions, and memories. I combined the musical symbol "♮" with visual art and adopted it as the theme for my works. Childhood travel experiences laid the foundation for my creations. Watching the sunset illuminate the mountain silhouettes gave me a sense of time being materialized. These experiences deepened my imagination of space and time, which is reflected in my paintings. The works explore my existence and relationship with the world, expressing a sense of destiny and joy through serene horizons.
